Beyond the Neon Lights: Your Guide to Restaurant Insurance in Nevada

Nevada’s culinary scene is a vibrant tapestry of flavors, from the renowned restaurants of Las Vegas to the hidden gems scattered across the desert expanse. As restaurateurs embark on the journey of crafting memorable dining experiences, they also navigate the unique challenges presented by Nevada’s dynamic environment. In this article, we venture into the realm of restaurant insurance in Nevada, where the stakes are as high as the surrounding peaks. We unravel the importance of restaurant insurance, offering insights and strategies to ensure your restaurant clients thrive amidst the desert winds and glimmering lights of Nevada.

We Consider New Ventures, Too

With so many new restaurants coming on the scene and establishments opening their doors in additional locations, you have a market with Distinguished. We write new ventures that come with experienced management.

Additional Specials in Our Restaurant Program

On the Property insurance side, our form includes a Wine Valuation endorsement for fine-dining establishments. If a wine collection is damaged, we will pay the claim based on the retail price (menu price) for a covered loss. This is a significant benefit for fine-dining restaurants. According to Sommelier Business, the industry standard is to sell a bottle of wine at three to four times the wholesale price.

In addition, our package program for fine-dining restaurants includes coverage enhancements such as Food Contamination, Food Spoilage, Equipment Breakdown, Backup of Sewer or Drain, and Business Interruption for off-premises power failure, including overhead transmission lines. Business interruption losses can be significant for restaurants, so it’s important they properly calculate their business income. The building block for a business loss calculation includes income tax returns, sales records and receipts, profit and loss statements, and payroll records.

Include Cyber Insurance for All Restaurant Accounts

Cyber insurance is critical for all restaurants, with data breach exposures as a result of point-of-sale credit card transactions and the use of mobile apps and QRC codes. Customer data can be compromised, resulting in fines and fees for the restaurant. A restaurant can also suffer business interruption losses if a breach prevents it from accepting online reservations or take-out orders and processing credit card transactions. There is also the cost of breach notifications and crisis management to re-establish customer trust. Third-party lawsuits can be made against the restaurant for damages to those impacted by a breach.

Distinguished’s Cyber program protects restaurants in this digital environment. We have two programs, both of which provide first- and third-party coverage. Our program for larger clients includes higher limits, 24/7 claims service, and risk management to mitigate exposures, as well as access to a breach response team. Business Income and Cyber Extortion insurance are also available. The programs are written with Beazley, a leader in Cyber insurance.
