What are the Main Coverages of Hotel Primary Insurance?

The hotel primary insurance coverages – that is, the direct, first layers of hotel insurance coverage – for a hotel operation should include General Liability (GL), Liquor Liability, Commercial Property, Commercial Auto Liability and Garagekeepers policies.
General Liability
Protects against third-party bodily injury and property damage that occurs on the property. This is critical insurance coverage for hotels because guests enter and exit the building(s), exercise on gym equipment, enjoy pool activities, patronize the property’s restaurants, and partake in other hotel-related activities.
Liquor Liability
Liquor liability coverage pays for specific damages caused by the sale, serving, or furnishing of alcoholic beverages. A common liquor liability claim involves a bartender overserving a customer who is later involved in a car accident.
Commercial Hotel Property Insurance
Covers the hotel business property, protecting the physical buildings and structures from covered perils such as fire, storms, and vandalism.
Commercial Auto Liability
Covers the costs related to property damage or bodily injury to a third party caused by an accident involving a hotel vehicle. Also provides for physical damage to vehicles owned by the hotel.
Garagekeepers Insurance
Covers vehicles parked by the hotel’s valet service. Garagekeepers insurance protects the vehicle from damage while it is in the care and control of the hotel. The policy includes Collision and Comprehensive coverage.
