My name is Michelle Stegmann. I’m the head of claims for Distinguished Fine Art and Collectibles. I’m located in Mendham, New Jersey, and I’ve been in the claims space for over 30 years working in various business lines from environmental to coverage to complex litigated to surety and construction. But I’ve been with Distinguished for a little over a year now.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I love all genres of music and I like to play DJ. So when I’m spending time with friends at a party or family, you’ll often find me by the iPad and the speaker cranking out the tunes.

What is your favorite sport/team?

My favorite sport is hockey, and my favorite team is the New York Rangers. They have not won a Stanley Cup since 1994, but that does not matter to a Rangers fan. We will still populate the garden and fill those seats.

What art movement do you most identify with?

Art movement with which I most identify is the pop art movement. It’s a movement that came to the fore in mid 1950s through into the early 1970s in America, and involves artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein. I am drawn to it because it draws on cultural icons of the moment back in those days.

Who is your favorite artist?

My favorite artist is actually not from the pop art movement, but rather the School of Surrealism, and that is Joan Miro, who was active in the early 20th century in Spain. What drew me to Miro is the utilization of very clear lines that have an architectural feel to them that then also blend in splashes of brilliant color.
