Distinguished Programs’ long-standing footprint and reputation as a pioneer in developing niche-focused Umbrella insurance products enable us to tap into what the market needs to both improve and expand our offerings. We recently relaunched our Express Umbrella insurance program for agents to submit business for small real estate and community association clients through our online portal. We spoke with Chris Larson, product manager of the Express Umbrella program to discuss the new insurance coverage.
What is the Express Umbrella program?
The Express Umbrella program is broken down into two core products – Express Real Estate and Express Community Associations Umbrella programs.
Our Express Real Estate Umbrella program is designed for small office buildings, strip shopping centers, and stand-alone retailers.
In addition, the Express Community Association Umbrella caters to community associations, commercial and mixed-use condominiums, co-operatives, homeowners associations (HOAs), and planned unit developments (PUDs).
Condos and rental properties part of the Distinguished City Insurance program are also eligible, but must have current underlying City insurance policies.
“Businesses choose excess coverage when they are looking to strengthen and extend the liability limits they carry on their underlying Directors and Officers (D&O), General Liability and/or Auto policies,” said Larson.
“Our expertise in the space allows us to offer the right balance of coverage for these risks. We’ve also made it easier for agents to submit business that fits our appetite, clearly defining the type of risks for which the program is designed.”
Limits & Key Coverages
The program is available in the majority of states. Competitively priced limits are available at $1M, $2M, $5M and $10M. In order to be eligible, insureds must carry $1M/$2M on their General Liability policy and $1M on the Auto policy.
Key coverages in the program include:
- D&O Follow Form
- Pay On Behalf
- Defense Outside Limits
- Zero Retention
- No Assault and Battery Exclusion
- Broad Named Insured Endorsement
Visit our Express Real Estate and Express Community Association sections on the website for more information on eligibility and coverages. Larger schedules and properties looking for higher limits should consider our high-limit Umbrella program.
