Women’s March on Washington – Hotels are Booked

Jan 20, 2017

This Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 the Women’s March on Washington is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Area hotels have been booked since Election Day, but last-minute accommodations may be found at luxury hotels, low-budget hotels, and vacation rentals.

Hotel providers may want to have travel tips and restaurant recommendations on hand.

The purpose of this peaceful march is to stand in solidarity for women’s rights, and also to stand up for equal rights for all, including immigrants, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, and anyone who fears their rights may be threatened.

Safety is key. Attendees are encouraged to dress without stress – layer the clothes, get the comfy shoes out, and don’t forget the hat and gloves. Packing water and snacks is also recommended. Marchers are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and identify ways to exit the crowd if needed. If the crowd begins to feel too close for comfort, that is a good signal to move out and rejoin in a less crowded area.

More than 350 sister marches will be occurring nationwide in both cities and small towns. Cities across the country may also see an increase in hotel bookings and restaurant patrons.
