Hi, my name is Erika Witler. I’m the Senior Vice President here at Distinguished Fine Art and Collectibles. I’ve been working in the fine art specialty niche insurance space for 20 years now. Working in fine art insurance really gives me an opportunity to serve the greater arts community and blend my long history personally of being interested in art. My grandmother was a professional portrait painter, so she used to take us to the museums and take walks and sculpture gardens, and I used to watch her in her studio painting, and that’s where I first learned to love art.
What’s a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I’ve been following the Seattle Kraken NHL hockey team since last year when they were doing so well.
If you could have dinner with any celebrity or historical figure, who would it be and why?
If I could have dinner with anyone, I would have dinner with Marie Curie. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the first person to win two Nobel Prize in different fields.
If you could choose any artwork to buy, what would you choose?
If I could pick any artwork to buy, I would choose a Richard Serra.
Who’s your favorite artist and why?
An artist that always inspires me and I’m excited to see when I go to the museums and galleries is Constantine Brancusi. There’s something about the simplicity in the forms he’s using and the material of wood, stone, metal that brings me a sense of tranquility every time I see it. I just really enjoy his pieces.
