An unlikely combination, but an interesting one.
W Hotels will be changing the sheets on all of the beds in its North American hotels before the close of the year. The new sheets are made of polyester partially composed of recycled plastic, using about 31 recycled 20 oz. plastic bottles per king-size sheet set. That’s a total of 268,000 bottles for all the W Hotel beds in North America.
The program, called EKOCYCLE, started after will.i.am was inspired to turn waste left behind at a Black Eyed Peas gig into sought-after objects, leading him to join forces with The Coca-Cola Company. After partnering with brands such as Adidas, Globe-Trotter, and MCM, will.i.am and Coca-Cola decided to zero in on the hospitality industry.
W Hotels also will feature an EKOCYCLE USB charging device that doubles as a jewelry/watch stand and alarm clock.
