Flood Commissions on the Chopping Block

Nov 08, 2017

Floods are the most common natural disaster in the U.S. and also the most costly, according to FEMA. The House of Representatives is voting this week to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which expires Dec. 8. BUT we urge you to tell your representative to VOTE NO on this bill, which would slash the “Write Your Own” reimbursement rate, thus cutting agents’ commissions. Take action here.

Cutting flood commissions could cause agents who sell flood insurance to leave NFIP, and it could become cost prohibitive for new agents entering NFIP. We must urge lawmakers to oppose this bill unless it is retooled to offer comprehensive protection to agents‘ commissions.

Floods can happen anywhere. One inch of water can cause thousands of dollars in damage. These facts highlight the importance of flood insurance, which is often not covered by traditional plans.  Flood insurance is becoming more and more necessary, and is often required. Take a quick moment to oppose this legislation via the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents.
