Puget Sound Heart & Stroke Walk

On Saturday, October 17th, Distinguished Specialty employee Kalie Wimmer participated in the Puget Sound Heart & Stroke Walk with her friends and family.  “My Grandmother passed away recently and she had Afib. This year we walked in honor of her.  We also walked for two of our family friends, both who passed away in 2012 from heart attacks.”

Kalie participates in 5K walks for charities and walking in honor of those that she has lost.  “It is a great way to support charities that I care about while spending time with the people that I love, and it gets us all out of the house and moving.  If you enjoy running you can do that too, or if you want to put your customer service skills to the test you can volunteer” explained Kalie.

There are 5Ks every weekend if you are interested.  Kalie and her family usually walk or volunteer at 5Ks about four times a year.

Here is a great website to use to find one near you.  The first thing to look for when picking a walk is what charity they are supporting and how much of the funds raised are actually going to that charity.
